Sexy Holiday Hair for Any Hair Type – Part III

So that cutie in the corner office asks if you want to grab a holiday drink after work. You’ve been pushing papers all day, but you’ve got to look hot just in case there’s some mistletoe to go with that eggnog. Quick, what do you do?

Reach for the perfume? Wrong. Touch-up your makeup? Nope.

Women forget that hair is their sexiest accessory. If your hair doesn’t look hot, chances are you’ll look a hot mess! Read on for some quick fixes to getting foxy.

Shine up: Look radiant in minutes by just adding a bit of shine to your hair. For medium to long hair, try MOP Glisten Shine Drops. It uses organic ingredients like aloe, oat straw, and horsetail to give you great shine. The natural composition is perfect for a last-minute fix because it won’t weigh hair down. For shorter styles, use Sebastian Crude Clay, which is best used on dry hair. It is quick-drying and provides separation and texture for short hair. Do not overdo it on shine products – or you’ll be greasy instead of glowing.

Get the part: Nothing give you instant “bad girl” like a quick side-part. Down the middle says boring and plain. Just give your hair a quick brush-through and part on the side. It is a good idea to use a mirror for this. Use a light-hold hairspray like Back to Basics Style & Finish Flexible Hold Hair Spray to preserve your part without looking stiff.

Put it up: A quick up-do is always sexy because it exposes the neck and accentuates the face. Simply grab hair into a low pony-tail at the nape of the neck and twist upwards. Allow a few tendrils to fall around your face. Secure with a wooden hair stick that says naturally classy, instead of an I’m-in-5th-grade scrunchie or rubber band. For very layered hair, use only a few bobby pins to secure strands.

After your hair is in place, feel free to spritz on the Michael Kors and break out the lip gloss.

Jojoba - The Natural Secret to Beautiful Hair

First used to treat sores and cuts by Native Americans, jojoba has been used for centuries as a natural healing agent. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, an increase in environmental awareness brought jojoba into the limelight as a valuable cosmetic ingredient. Laws were enforced to protect endangered species, such as the Sperm Whale, whose spermaceti waxes were highly valued in cosmetic applications. Fortunately, scientists soon found that jojoba oil could not only replace spermaceti wax, but was actually superior to it. Currently, jojoba is found in many organic beauty products because of its unmatched similarity to oil found on human skin and hair.

Jojoba sets itself apart from other hair product ingredients because it aids in both cleansing and conditioning, even preventing hair loss.

Many scalp related problems occur due to hardened sebum build-up that clogs hair follicles. Failure to remove this residue eventually obstructs the follicle’s ability to function properly, leading to loss of the hair shaft. Because jojoba has anti-bacterial properties as well as a low comedogenic (pore-clogging) factor, it is ideal for thoroughly cleansing the hair and scalp. Shampoos containing jojoba loosen hardened build-up, leaving follicles clean and ready to resume their natural functions.

Jojoba oil is a unique conditioner due to hypo-allergenic qualities absent in most natural moisturizers, such as almond oil. Its keratoplastic make-up creates a shimmering effect that enhances natural color and shine. As mentioned before, jojoba has a long-standing reputation as a healing ingredient for skin afflictions. It also does wonders for damaged hair in the form of treatments and leave-in conditioners.

There are several hair products containing jojoba in a variety of forms. The ISH Ionic Rescue line actually crystallizes jojoba into small beads called HRC (Hair Renewal Crystals). When used with a heated appliance, the beads melt and infuse their moisture into the hair shaft, repairing brittle and damaged ends. Used regularly, jojoba-rich products improve hair and scalp quality, leaving strands brilliant and supple.

Sexy Holiday Style for Any Hair Type – Part II

Sensual, loose curls are in this season. Why not make this holiday your sexiest? This style is a combination of sophisticated and casual, perfect for all your holiday galas. Think bed-head elegance. Regardless of hair type, you too can achieve sexy waves in just a few simple steps.

Start with a layered cut to add more depth and sexy volume. Have a professional stylist do this; otherwise hair will look uneven when twisted.

Because wavy hair naturally reflects less light than straight hair, it is important to keep your locks healthy to promote shine. Keep up a weekly deep-conditioning regiment with a treatment such as the ISH Ionic Rescue One-Minute Treatment, which contains pure jojoba crystals.

For hair that’s CURLY

Start with clean, towel-dried hair. Apply a styling lotion like Back to Basic’s Style & Finish Texture Defining Lotion. The natural blend will sculpt style, while maintaining movement and shine. Next, braid hair and twist it on top of your head. Hold in place with clips for 15-20 minutes. After, blow-dry hair using an ionic model to preserve moisture and shine.

For hair that’s SHORT

Slick hair back using a control crème, such as KMS Curlup Control Crème, which bundles hair into sexy curls while controlling frizz. Dry hair completely using a diffuser. Lightly run fingers through hair to create softer waves.

For hair that’s STRAIGHT

Avoid any gels or heavy lotions. Instead use a mousse or foam, such as ISO Daily Foam, and scrunch into towel-dried hair with your head upside down. Use 5-7 butterfly clips to put up sections of hair into zigzags against your scalp. The idea is to pull hair in different directions, giving body to naturally straight hair. Diffuse-dry hair for 15-20 minutes. Release curls and scrunch hair once more. Do not run fingers through the hair, as it may cause curls to relax completely.
